Safe, Legal and Sustainable

Our company, Darling Ingredients, takes our commitment to integrity, safety and environmental stewardship seriously. Part of that commitment is helping our customers abide by all applicable local, state and federal laws regulating their grease traps and disposition of their used cooking oil or inedible meat by-products. We also maintain complete service records that are available at any time for inspection.

Safety and Service are Our Top Priorities

Service technicians are fully trained in the proper and safe procedures for servicing a grease trap and transferring used cooking oil or meat by-products to our collection vehicles. Our modern transportation fleet, which is among the top 50 largest privately-owned fleets in the U.S., operates under strict Department of Transportation guidelines. Drivers undergo regular safety training, fleets are regularly services for safe, on-road operation, and our onboard computerized logistics assure efficient scheduling and routing.

Our national network of processing facilities operate under Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) and Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls for Animal Food guidelines, which are verified by internal and third-party audits.

The "TRAP" in Grease Traps

Did you know that as a business owner, you are responsible for what happens to the material in your grease trap, EVEN AFTER it is removed from your premises? This is often referred to as "cradle-to-grave" responsibility. If your service provider removes material from your grease trap and disposes of it illegally, YOU are liable for any resulting regulatory or environmental penalties. For this reason, partnering with a responsible grease trap service company is essential to protect your business from unnecessary fines. DAR PRO Solutions stays up to date on the regulations in our service areas; our customers rest easy knowing any unusable trap material is disposed of in a safe, secure and legal manner at licensed disposal facilities.

Our Commitment to Biosecure Operations

We believes it is critical to know what is in the materials we process to produce quality feed and biofuel ingredients. Raw materials are inspected during unloading for any physical or chemical contamination, and only materials from approved suppliers are used at our processing plants. Incoming raw material is always kept separate from our processed ingredients to prevent any cross-contamination. Some of our facilities are dedicated to processing by-products from specific animal species to meet customer specifications. This quality control is particularly crucial for our fat, bone and meat collection.

Darling keeps meticulous records to trace materials through the production process, to document a transparent supply chain at all times. Samples from the by-products and incoming shipments are routinely tested using gas chromatography for the presence of chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides and PCBs.

Our plants also implement prevention-based programs defined by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls for Animal Food and the HACCP food safety model to provide for contaminant-free products that are safe to use. Our fat and protein ingredients are produced using CGMP’s in compliance with all applicable provisions of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations. Our products are tested extensively to comply with standards set by diverse government and industry organizations.

As a DAR PRO customer, you can rest easy knowing your material will be handled safely and efficiently and in full compliance with all environmental, food and feed, and other applicable regulatory codes.
