What are some of the difficult aspects casinos face as it pertains to grease recycling? The sheer size of the building makes it a large undertaking in its own right. Once you factor in the various restaurants and kitchen areas scattered across the premises, you’re dealing with a high volume of used cooking oil that must be transported from the fryer and dumped into a tank.

Dining is also not the core function of a casino. Gaming is the building’s primary focus and that is where the majority of the space is allotted to. There simply isn’t always enough room to place a bulky storage tank within close proximity to each kitchen space. Given the fact that these spaces are decentralized and littered throughout the building, employees often travel long distances with a hot pot of oil to dump into a bin that is, more often than not, located outside. This is both time consuming and potentially hazardous. One spill could lead to a slip or burn, whether it be an employee or your guest. Grease shouldn’t be something that interferes with the customer experience, which is why a safe and efficient method is paramount.

Simple solutions that are safe and secure

Simplicity is top of mind when crafting solutions for casinos. Our tanks feature direct pump connection capability, meaning they can hook up directly to a fryer and extract the oil at the touch of a button. We recommend implementing this whenever possible. It is the safest and easiest solution. Placing the tank adjacent to the fryer is important in successfully implementing direct pump connection, but we are capable of customizing solutions to connect from slightly longer distances if needed. Our tanks are also equipped with a proprietary valve the deters theft and allows our trucks to pull alongside the facility and collect the stored oil without ever having to enter, meaning your kitchen and gaming operations remain uninterrupted.

Direct pump connection is often not possible for a few of the previously highlighted reasons. The kitchen areas in casinos usually are not using uniform frying equipment, meaning their fryers have varying levels of compatibility when it comes to extraction. Casinos also need to manage a high-volume of oil and need larger storage solutions that go beyond the capability of a typical automated system. This requires kitchen staff to transfer the oil from fryer to storage bin, which is somewhere on the building’s exterior.

We crafted a tool for this called the casino caddy. Resting on four wheels and equipped with a hose connection and a wand designed to extract the oil from the fryer vat, this caddy provides a secure option for your staff to transfer oil from fryer to tank. They’re not having to extract the oil out of the fryer themselves and hand-carry the container to the storage bin. Our casino caddy is capable of hauling up to 175 lbs. of oil per trip. This equates to fewer trips to the bin and the ability to drain your fryer multiple times without needing to dump into the bin.
